The Supreme Court includes the expatriation allowance in the “expatriates” severance pay

The Supreme Court in its latest Ruling of 29 January 2019 includes the expatriation allowance in expatriates’ severance pay. It’s an important ruling, which together with the one dated 19 July 2018 regarding the expatriate housing payment and the cases of High Courts of Justice commented in previous articles, is a legal regime for the severance pay of “expatriates”.

Credit Intermediaries – extension of the transitional period

Entities that had already been operating as credit intermediaries since the beginning of 2018 and that submitted an application for authorisation to the Bank of Portugal by 31 December 2018 may continue to conduct business of that nature until 31 July 2019, for as long as they are not notified of the Bank of Portugal's decision on their application for authorisation and registration.

At the end of that period, entities that have not obtained authorisation and registration to operate as credit intermediaries are prohibited from doing so.
